Colombia’s Fashion Week has arrived and there’s a noticeably different energy in the air! Fashionistas are scattered throughout the city in anticipation of one of Medellin’s biggest annual events. You’d be hard-pressed not to encounter someone who is involved on some level – from the new faces and profiles appearing in your Grindr gay dating app to the international looks and sounds coming from the models, designers and industry insiders seated at the table next to you at your neighborhood burger joint.
Anyone who knows me will tell you I’m not much of a fashionista myself, but I am excited to experience some of Colombia Moda. In covering last year’s event, Colombia Reports noted that “55,000 buyers, spectators and VIPs arrive every year” for what is considered one of the best fashion reunions in all of Latin America.
According to Inexmoda’s press kit, “over the course of three days, visitors will share their passion for business and fashion in a full-scale trade exhibit, with multiple designers presenting their latest collection and a space offering free keynote speeches from professionals in the industry.”
Runway shows – I count 34 in total – will be streamed live for those who didn’t get an invitation, didn’t want to shell out the $50 USD for a pass, or otherwise can’t make it. The full runway schedule can be found here.
I’ll do my best to share some highlights from Colombia Moda 2016. Check out this post or follow us on Facebook for updates throughout the week.
